While it may be possible to spot the Northern Lights in early March, daylight returns quickly to Svalbard and from early April there’s no night at all – giving you plenty of time to experience the magical beauty of its pristine wilderness.

Day 1: Fly Dublin to Oslo or Tromso, or sometimes Copenhagen or Stockholm depending on the flight schedules. Stay one night in a 3* hotel (room only in Oslo, B&B in other cities. If staying in Tromsø, airport coach transfers are included).

Days 2-4: Fly from Norway to Svalbard. Arrive early afternoon. Easy coach transfer (pay locally) to the Funken Lodge boutique hotel, or the hostel-style Coal Miners’ Cabins (with twin rooms and shared bathrooms), in Longyearbjen, where you stay for 3 nights B&B.  You also get one amazing polar excursion at each: a snowmobile safari with Coal Miners’ Cabins or a dog sledding adventure with Funken Lodge. 

You will have plenty of time to try a range of other activities which can either be booked in advance or on arrival in Longyearbyen. These include a Snowmobile Safari (€210 pp) or Dog Sledding (€153 pp), a fascinating visit to a disused Coal Mine (€75 pp), an Arctic Evening in Camp Barentz (€115 pp), a tour to an ice cave by Snowcat (€95pp) and much more . Day 5: Depart Longyearbjen and fly to Tromsø or Oslo. Depending on flight schedules you may continue on to Copenhagen or Stockholm. Stay one night in a 3* hotel (room only in Oslo, B&B in other cities. If staying in Tromso, airport coach transfers are included).

Day 6: Morning flight back to Dublin.
