This 5-night package takes you to the far north, to the island of Svalbard in the Spitsbergen archipelago – next stop the North Pole! This is the place to go if you want to try dog sledding and snowmobiling in November and December, a couple of months before northern Norway. Between 14 Nov and 29 Jan each year the region experiences the ‘Polar Night’ with 24 hours of darkness so you can hunt the Northern Lights all day long!

Day 1: Fly Dublin to Oslo or Tromso, or sometimes Copenhagen or Stockholm depending on the flight schedules. Stay one night in a 3* hotel (room only in Oslo, B&B in other cities. If staying in Tromsø, airport coach transfers are included).
Days 2-4: Fly from Norway to Svalbard. Arrive early afternoon. Easy coach transfer (pay locally) to the Funken Lodge boutique hotel in Longyearbjen, where you stay for 3 nights B&B. Your holiday in Svalbard includes two amazing Northern Lights excursions. An Evening at Camp Barentz with dinner, drinks and a Northern Lights presentation means you can experience the Arctic wilderness and enjoy the warmth of the open fires in the camp buildings. You also get a Northern Lights hunt, either by coach (available from 01 Oct) or Snowcat (available from 23 Nov). If you visit after 14 November this trip could take place during the day as Svalbard experiences the Polar Night with 24 hours of darkness. The dates/times of these activities are subject to availability at time of booking.
You will have plenty of time to try a range of other activities which can either be booked in advance or on arrival in Longyearbjen. These include a Snowmobile Safari (available from 23 Nov, €200 pp) or Dog Sledding (from 01 Nov, €160 pp). There are also various sightseeing tours and hikes with guides, beer tasting at the Svalbard Brewery (€45 pp) and even a visit to a disused Coal Mine (€77 pp). Day 5: Depart Longyearbjen and fly to Tromsø or Oslo. Depending on flight schedules you may continue on to Copenhagen or Stockholm. Stay one night in a 3* hotel (room only in Oslo, B&B in other cities. If staying in Tromso, airport coach transfers are included).
Day 6: Morning flight back to Dublin.
