fjords and glacier tour Norway
Visit Norway on your summer holiday

Day 1: Fly Dublin to Oslo where you stay in a central 3* hotel for 2 nights B&B.

Day 2: At leisure in Oslo for a full day to take in some great museums and galleries.

Day 3: One of the most beautiful railway journeys in the world is that between Oslo and Bergen on the west coast. You disembark in the heart of the mountains at the tiny station of Myrdal. A second train, the Flåmsbanen, winds down almost sheer mountainside taking you to Flåm which marks the head of the Sognefjorden. A high speed ferry takes you along the full length of this stunning waterway. At the village of Balestrand in the heart of the fjords you disembark in time for dinner and overnight at the Kviknes Hotel, a member of De Historiske hotels of Norway.

Day 4: You have most of the day free to explore Balestrand. Alternatively, take the Fjaerland Glacier tour (book locally the day before). In the late afternoon you re-join the express boat taking you to Bergen where you stay for 2 nights.

Day 5: Today you have time to explore Bergen which offers outdoor markets, great restaurants, tours inland and a funicular railway to Mount Fløyen where you get a panoramic view of the town. If you can, take in one of the frequent summer concerts in Troldhaugen, home of the composer Edvard Grieg.

Day 6: It’s an early start for your flights back to Dublin.

Note: This itinerary also operates in reverse.
