This 7 night, guaranteed departure, escorted group tour is a great way to explore Norway’s stunning western, blosso- filled coast, taking in the cities of Stavanger and Bergen, plus some of the most beautiful fjords. Day 1: Fly Dublin/Bergen [dinner]. Transfer (pay locally, easy – full details given) to Bergen Børs Hotel. At 7pm meet the tour leader in the lobby. Walk to a nearby restaurant for a 3 course welcome dinner.
Day 2: Bergen – Fitjar – Stavanger [breakfast, lunch]. Meet your long distance coach driver and depart from Bergen along the south-western coast of Norway to Stavanger. En route, stop at Fitjar for a wild and authentic experience at the sustainable, Engesund Fish Farm, reaqched by RIB boat.Ejoy tasting their salmon and their famous fish soup for lunch, before returning to the mainland to drive to Arsvagen. Here you boar the ferry to Mortavika before arriving in Staganger, Norway’s fourth largest city. Stavanger is known as a trading centre for the petroleum industry and the building of oil platforms. Stay 2 nights at the Clarion Collection Hotel Skagen Brygge on the harbour front where you can enjoy an individual light, casual dinner, or if you prefer, head out to one of the many local restaurants.
Day 3: Stavanger – Lyse Fjord – Stavanger [breakfast]. In the morning follow your tour leader on a short walking tour of Stavanger. At 10.00am depart by boat for a 3-hour trip along the Lys Fjord to see the unforgettable Pulpit Rock, towering waterfalls, idyllic islands and breathtaking scenery. The evening is at leisure back in Stavanger.
Day 4: Stavanger – Rosendal – Lofthus [breakfast, lunch, dinner]. After breakfast depart by coach and ferry towards the Hardanger region, stopping for a light lunch en route. On arrival in Hardanger Fjord, check out the fruit orchards which should be in full bloom, subject to local weather conditions. The blossoms of the cherries, plums, pear and apple stretching along the sides of the fjords is a sight never forgotten. Continue to Rosendal to visit the Baroniet Rosendal Manor House & Gardens to include a tour of the house which dates back to 1665 and a walk through the beautiful gardens. The day includes a tour of a traditional Norwegian farm as well as views of glaciers and thundering waterfalls as you make your way to Lofthus and Hotel Ullensvang where you stay for 2 nights, with a rich buffet dinner on both nights.
Day 5: Lofthus [breakfast, dinner]. A day at leisure to explore the hotel and surrounding area.
Day 6 : Lofthus – Ulvik – Flåm – Auerland Fjord – Balestrand [breakfast, lunch, dinner]. Leave by coach and drive past Kinsarvik and into Eidjford before stopping to view the Voringsfoss waterfall, with its 180m drop. Cross the Hardanger Bridge, one of the longest suspension bridges in the world and stop at Ulvik to visit the Hardanger Juice & Cider Factory and enjoy tastings and a light lunch overlooking the fjord below. After lunch continue through Voss and Gudvangen to reach Flam. From there you board the express boat to Balestrand which takes you along the stunning Aurland Fjord and the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Norway. Disembark right in front of your hotel for the night, Kviknes Hotel, where you enjoy a buffet dinner.
Day 7 : Balestrand – Sognefjord – Bergen [breakfast, dinner]. Start with an early (7.50am) express boat trip along the Sogn Fjord and south along the Norwegian coast back to Bergen where you arrive at noon. It’s a short walk to check in at the Bergen Børs Hotel. In the afternoon your tour leader will take you on a short introduction tour of Bergen on foot. The 5 course farewell dinner this evening is at one of Norway’s best seafood restaurants on an island just outside Bergen city after which a ferry takes you back to the mainland.
Day 8: Depart Bergen[breakfast]. Check out after breakfast and head to the airport for your return flights to Dublin.
