View the Summer Coastal Voyage packages Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Voyages - Summer 2013
Hurtigruten ships are amongst the most important means of transportation along Norway’s twisting, rugged coastline for locals and visitors alike. This unique voyage carries passengers and supplies to over 30 ports with a ship departing from Bergen virtually every day of the year. The Hurtigruten ships travel north across the Arctic Circle and beyond as they weave in and out of narrow inlets and fjords, sailing along some of the world's most beautiful coastline, nearly always in sight of land. As with the scenery en route, it is the sheer variety of sights, sounds, smells and surprises you experience which makes a Norwegian coastal voyage such a delight! Many of the ports of call along the way are little more than tranquil hamlets on tiny islands. Others are long established, bustling towns, owing their prosperity to the fishing, mining or shipbuilding industries, offering shore based excursions and activities. Sail in summer during the period of the Midnight Sun, when the sun flirts with the horizon before curving skyward, bathing the glorious scenery in perpetual daylight. Popular options include the 6-nights Northbound or 10-night Discovery (almost a complete round trip)cruise itineraries. Ports visited by night on the northbound voyage are seen by day on the southbound journey and there are a variety of shore-based excursions on offer. From 15th April - 14th September the route north voyages gives you an extra tour of the fjords as the ship heads into the famous UNESCO World Heritage Site of Geirangerfjord. Take the opportunity to join excursions ashore and weave through hair-pin bends to overlook the world's longest fjords. Waterfalls cascade down cliffs that rise 1400m above the Norwegian Sea - truly a mountain lover's delight! View the Summer Coastal Voyage packages View the Summer Special Offers |
