Geilo is one of only five villages in Norway to have the coveted status of National Park Village. Its location could hardly be improved for winter sport enthusiasts. The valley itself is perfect for downhill skiing and snow park activities; cable cars take visitors up to the Hardangervidda, Europe's largest mountain plateau, with its many kilometres of cross-country trails. The resort's setting - amidst immense yet tranquil mountains - makes skiing in Geilo a beautiful, exotic and very memorable experience.

As a true ski resort, Geilo is comparable to any European alpine destination in terms of size, infrastructure, service levels and facilities. It's the place where many Norwegian winter sports professionals in such sports as biathlon, alpine skiing, snowboard and cross-country, come to train.
