Between 21 November and 21 January the sun disappears under the horizon and Tromso experiences the Polar Nights. Contrary to popular belief, they are not completely dark. In Tromsø the twilight is longer than in most places and this combined with snow gives the sky incredible colours when the weather is favourable. Tromso can get a lot of snow but it often takes time before it settles. January to April are the best snow months and provide the best opportunities to enjoy winter snow activities.
