NorwayNorway is an amazing destination offering very different types of holidays whether you visit in winter or summer. The biggest draw, particularly between April and October, has to be the awe-inspiring fjords. To truly appreciate their majestic beauty you should try and see them from both sea level as well as looking down on them from the mountains. Project Travel offers both land and sea packages for independent travel and escorted group tours. As well as being experts on salmon fishing in Norway we also are Ireland's leading agent for Hurtigruten's popular coastal voyages along Norway's spectacular western seaboard. These working ships travel the length of the country stopping off at over 30 ports, wending in and out of the fjords along the way. Passengers can opt to participate in a range of excursions offered at some of the larger ports en route. On selected dates some voyages are specially themed with on-board lectures and activities |

Credit: Anders Gjengedal/Innovation Norway If you prefer to keep your feet on dry land there are a variety of independent self-guided tours available taking in the cities of Oslo and Bergen as well as rail journeys and tours through some of the most spectacular scenery on the planet. Once you see it for yourself you understand why Norway is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and has been repeatedly voted amongst the most beautiful destinations in the world. All of Project Travel's packages are suitable for solo travellers, couples or groups. For those who prefer there are also escorted tours available during the summer months. Hikers and hill walkers will be spoiled for choice in Norway, whichever region you visit. You can choose from self-guided walks or join with locally arranged groups. Salmon anglers dream of fishing the world-famous Norwegian rivers and Project Travel is able to arrange one week packages during the season. Trout fishing and sea angling is also popular and can be arranged on request. During the winter months it is best to head far north, above the Arctic Circle, where you have the best chance of seeing the mysterious Northern Lights. This is also the area where you can try out some exhilarating Arctic activities. Several of these, including husky dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing and visiting an ice hotel, do not require any specialist sporting prowess to be enjoyed. For those with a greater sense of adventure hardier specialist tours are available which include dog sled and cross country skiing trips through the mountains lasting several days. Norway is a wonderful country with down-to-earth, friendly people, almost all of whom speak perfect English. Nature plays a major role in their day-to-day lives and a few days spent there quickly reminds us there is more to life than electronic games, fast-paced and glitzy living.
